Volunteers are the backbone of our Meals On Wheels program. Not only do they prepare and deliver meals to home-bound seniors in their local communities, but Meals On Wheels volunteers also provide the seniors they serve with companionship and a warm, friendly smile when they arrive at the door.
Our Meals On Wheels program has numerous volunteer opportunities. People of varied interests and abilities can help – whether they want to be hands-on or behind the scenes, and whether they can volunteer during the weekdays or only on evenings and weekends.
It’s easy to sign up, we work around your schedule, and it’s an excellent way to give back to your community!
We have volunteer opportunities to fit everyone’s creative outlets and schedules!
Drivers pick up meals at a central location then follow a specific route, making several stops along the way to deliver to Meals On Wheels recipients. Sometimes a driver works with a volunteer “runner” who takes the meal from the car to the door of the seniors’ homes.
Volunteers do more than simply deliver meals. They also provide a quick safety check, a connection to the community, and a warm smile. Often, the volunteer is the only person the senior may see all day. Be that person who brightens someone’s day by knocking on their door and delivering a nutritious meal!.
We have events and fundraisers that require extra help – including planning and organizing, publicity, onsite setup and staffing and much more.
Most people don’t realize that we have an administrative side – an office that organizes meal preparation and delivery and communicates with clients. Volunteers help us in the office by providing administrative and clerical support to keep the office running smoothly.
Assist in the kitchen, preparing meals or packing them for delivery.
